We hosted a belated July 4th barbecue with good friends from the city. Moments before their arrival there was a fire in the telephone line right outside our house, caused by the power line which fell on the telephone line. We lost phone service, and for a while, all electricity. Perfect for entertaining during a heat wave! But the fire engines provided entertainment for the kids.
