Columbus Day Weekend-Country and City

After a very long walk around lower Manhattan, we stopped at one of our old haunts, The Winter Garden, where we used to take Sammy pre-9/11 to walk up and down the stairs in the winter.
My picture order is all out of whack. Here are the blue-eyed Nichols at home.
Will feeling refreshed after a long walk....kicked off his Crocs and insisted on running around barefoot while we ate pizza in the shade.

Here we are posing for Sam in front of New York Harbor. We have so many memories of being here that start way back in the summer of 1991. (Before we were even married!)
The day before going into the city we went apple picking at Stuart's Fruit Farm in Mahopec. This orchard is a great find.....not overloaded with people, plenty of apples left for us, and even a small hot dog stand for Will. We kept is short and sweet.....parked, picked and went home.
Will's favorite was
Golden Delicious, and Sam liked the McIntosh and other red varieties.

We took the Staten Island Ferry, which pleasantly enough was free and not that crowded. The boys loved the ride, the views, and the breeze. Because it was a Sunday, there were no commuters, but instead we were surrounded by European tourists.

Another trip down memory lane......the playground we frequented way back when with Sam and Will when they were tots. They still loved it and immediately ran all over and made friends. Can you spot Will in this photo?
