Julia's friend Isabella turned 3 and her Mom wanted the American Girl experience, so we drove to Manhattan and went to the American Girl Store on 5th and 49th. It's a 3 story experience, and despite my hesitance (they're too young, it's too expensive, it's going to be so crowded, they won't appreciate it, it's going to be exhausting, I have too much to do) it was WONDERFUL. We arrived early and avoided crowds. In fact, it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The dolls were all set up with backgrounds making it look like a doll museum instead of a store. Julia chose an age appropriate doll (a baby instead of the big ones) , which also happened to be a very comfortable price for her stingy mother, and our lunch was delicious and both girls held it together. I felt guilty having so much fun! The restaurant was full of girls and their moms and grandmothers and of course their dolls in booster seats. We came home happy and tired, and Julia played with her doll for a while. Then she pulled out the boys' "magnetix" kit and spent the rest of the afternoon building things with magnet balls and hinges.
